Overview
The Associate Buyer plays a key supporting role in the end-to-end buying process for the footwear category. This position assists in planning, product selection, data analysis, and in-season management, helping to ensure the product assortment meets customer expectations and business goals. The Associate Buyer collaborates with cross-functional teams and contributes to the execution of seasonal strategies aligned with the SPERRY brand vision and commercial targets.
Responsibilities
Business, Financial Support and In-Season Management
- Assist in managing the Open-to-Buy (OTB) process by maintaining and updating key planning documents (Assortment Sheets, On order, Delivery trackers)
- Track and report weekly sales, identifying top performers and sales trends
- Support the Buyer in achieving margin, sales, and sell-through targets
- Monitor weekly performance and support the Buyer in making recommendations for reorders, markdowns, and inventory rebalancing.
- Prepare data and analysis for business unit meetings and post-mortem
Assortment Planning & Buying
- Help coordinate and maintain assortment plans by updating style details, SKU counts, and product flow.
- Attend handover finalization and injections meetings, taking detailed notes and ensuring action items are tracked and followed up.
- Support the Buyer in analyzing market trends and competitor activity to help identify product opportunities.
Product Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Allocation, Planning, and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure product strategy execution aligns with seasonal goals.
- Assist with the preparation and execution of Go-to-Market calendars and deliverables.
Visual Merchandising & Brand Alignment
- Coordinate with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure product assortments are supported with clear, brand-aligned in-store presentations.
Requirements
- One to three years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities efficiently.
- Proven analytical capabilities
- Excellent knowledge of Microsolft Office (particularly Excel)
- Great communication skills (speaks with clarity and professionalism)
- Customer centric and able to under their needs
- Ability to build and maintain relationships (regular interdepartmental collaboration is integral to the role)
- Fashion Savvy and aware of market trends
- Strong desire to learn and capable of active listening
